The Walnut Street Bridge (or as I call it "The Walking Bridge") is one of the most defining landmarks of Harrisburg. It used to connect Harrisburg (on the East) and Wormleysburg (on the West) to City Island in the middle of the Susquehanna. Well that was until the Wormleysburg side collapsed due to massive flooding and ice from the blizzard of 1996. I will never forget watching the events of that dreadful day unfold on the news.
Still what remains is beautiful. It is part of our city and we will always be a part of it.
